Happened to be at le maison de les parents when my Dad opened the fridge and asked me how long he should cook roast lamb for... Seeing the size of the leg he pulled out of the fridge, I immediately invited myself and Bastard over for dinner, and began to peel potatoes. My parents now have three or four potatoes left of the three shopping bags they had in the cupboard. Apparently Dad did the grocery shopping this week, because he got himself a senior's card and wanted to use it to get a discount at the supermarket. So he got lots of things he liked. Like a leg of lamb.

After dinner, we played Rummikub, with no time constraints. Which is just as well, because the last round we played I went out in my first move, having been unable to make a first move prior to that, in that round, and it took me about half an hour to lay out all the pieces. I won by a significant amount. Dad lost by a significant amount. In my family, the latter is of more importance than the former - it doesn't matter who wins, as long as Dad loses. I usually attempt (successfully) to come second.

And while I think of it, does anyone know where I can find decent-sized pieces of vellum? The stuff made from animal skins, not the paper type. I have a friend (who I hope hasn't found my journal yet) who likes doing absolutely gorgeous calligraphy and other artwork (you should see her LOTR map - hand-inked, giant-sized, and legible to the tiniest details) on this medium, and as I shall be going to Canberra for her and [livejournal.com profile] mabraham's birthday parties the week before Dancemania, vouchers to such a store (if I can't afford a complete hide, which seems likely, as dance shoes may eat my budget...) would be an appreciated gift, together with a catalogue or something *grin*

So if anyone out there in LJ-Land happened to have a line on the stuff, I'd be ever so grateful *innocent blink-blink*
