I still have the theme song from last night's dream going through my head.

What does it mean when your dreams give you earworms?

Anyway, me and a group of people walked into a large room, reminiscent of the SABAs' main room. I was trying (I think) to encourage them into something, and so I began to sing and dance... Eventually some joined in. Especially on the line "I gave my life awaaaaaay" yeah. Yeah yeah. Oh no no no yea yeah. Love me, I said, yea yeah. It sounded quite good, as I remember. Each individual voice played a part audibly different from the others. And it was definitely the people there singing, not lip-synching to Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

And then we went outside into an arcade and had coffee and pastries at the coffee cart.

I'm often sanguinary too, if that helps :P

Nah, not a heteronym - just a word with various meanings/shades of meaning. A heteronym (or geekeronym, perhaps, in this case!) would be something like the IT community's insistence on pronouncing "cache", when it's specifically used in an IT sense, as "kaysh" :-)

(We'll just quietly ignore those who *always* pronounce the word as "kaysh" just because they're Iggernt, hee)

So heteronyms do have to be heterophonic, then? I thought the very existence of the heterophonic descriptor meant that you could potentially have non-heterophonic heteronyms. And not having a term for a word with multiple disparate meanings for its single given spelling and pronunciation seems like something of an omission.

Oh, well.

~giggles~ What I meant was that - what with my being as much a self-taught barbarian in English grammar as I am in music - when I read your So heteronyms do have to be heterophonic, then? I thought the very existence of the heterophonic descriptor meant that you could potentially have non-heterophonic heteronyms., I had a sudden moment of feeling like the perpetually-confused Manuel from Fawlty Towers. That was his cover-all response when face with English too complicated for him :P

But yes, I actually do understand what you're saying, and no, my understanding of heteronyms is that they have to be spelt exactly the same but pronounced differently!

That's just it - all I could think of was that you were attempting to channel Manuel, and that seemed incongruous given your somewhat authoritative stance on the matter upthread.

Obviously, I should just learn to expect random bouts of incongruity from you. *wry smile*

Authoritative? Moi? Eek!

That would be a "d'oh!" followed by a "duh". I'm so incongruous that starship companies plot tourist flights through me :D
