As of this morning, we have hot water for the first time in six days. Not only that, but Bastards' mother did the dishes when they were here this morning before the plumber arrived (she has much more patience and obsessiveness with dishes than I do).

I am very happy.

oh no working plumbing either :( is it fixed now? I've been trying to get a plumber since before xmas. {no water in kitchen}. we do havee hot water for showers though I have to wash dishes in the laundry tub, - other end of house. a real pain.

Yeah, fixed now. We came home the Thursday after Christmas to find a trickle of water leading from the hot water service to the back door. So we turned everything to do with hot water off and called (once it was no longer a weekend or a public holiday) a company that basically subcontracts plumbers and asked them to send one out, which they did, the next day (!)

All fixed. New hot water heater. $1200, right after Christmas and before I go on holidays *wince*
