She-Boss put out bug baits, and now we have huuuuge bugs deciding to go nuts, hyperactively nuts, across the office floor, as their buggy brains get poisoned into madness. I saw three of them get squished today. I swear the walls are scritching. There's several going buggy outside the front door (that I can see), and one just ran under a part of my desk that I can't get to.

I really want a kitten or a small dog to run around pouncing on them. This would take away the hideous shrieking chills.

Um, what are they? I was disappointed to not find a piccie behind the cut :D

I cut it because I know some people would have problems with just the description. Heck, I'm having problems with the scrabbling, scritching noises overhead at intervals.

We think they're a variety of cockroach or cricket. They're shaped vaguely the same (until they become squished goo). They are not the portugese (sp? Too stressed to think about it) cockroach, which are black with light trim, because they are brown. About the same brown as dry, dead weeds without much straw. Close to the colour of my desk. About the same length as my thumb, on average.

Ahh. See, as a Card Carrying Furriner, I find anything here with fewer than eight legs to be eminently tolerable :P

It's more the fact that they run across the floor without warning, and scritch in the walls and ceiling, and normally they don't. Normally they don't, which is the distressing bit for me.

My office in the hospital used to be between the kitchens and the major radiation sources in the hospital. One morning I came in and left my bag on the side table. I remembered in time that I didn't have a side table in my office in time to rescue my bag before the giant cockroach trundled off in search for either (a) more food; (b) more radiation; or, (c) both of the above.

But after you work for a while in a hospital nothing phases you much any more.

And they can survive serious amounts of radiation without apparent injury... <grin>
