There is a clock above the packing desk. I don't know when it appeared, but it means that, when I look up while packing to see how much time I have left before I need to Panic, there is no longer a blank space where the previous clock used to be.

Did a Senior First Aid course yesterday. I would heartily recommend the company that held it, if I could remember their name. 4Life, I think. Anyway, they have paramedics and ex-ambulance officers do the things, so that they can tell you what actually works. As Steve (our ex-ambo, ex-fireguy, ex-sparkie) said, it doesn't matter if you can't remember how many compressions to do before how many breaths (doing CPR) as long as you remember lots, then a couple. All you're doing is buying time for the casualty until the professionals to get there. He also told us exactly what the difference was in survival rates (in his experience) between casualties whose first-aiders got on with the job, and those whose first-aiders vacillated or did nothing. And the real meaning of 'reasonable aid'. No recommending stopping when waved down on the freeway in the middle of the night from this teacher. Instead, he recommended stopping at the next town or service station and letting emergency services know that there's someone waving down cars, and let them deal with it. Practical advice, not pedantism. Good fun, long day.
