Drunk folksinging is not nearly as fun when you're on antibiotics and unwilling to get drunk enough to appreciate it. The banjo was good, though. Audience participation songs suck. Majorly. And there was only one song sung that was both younger than me and not filk. And that wasn't the song I knew and could sing along to.
Then there's Dad when he's drunk. Yes Dad, I want to leave, Mum wants to leave, so we will as soon as you finish that glass of red but I just need to go to the bathroom now, and look what's happened when I get back, your glass has miraculously become more full!
I hate being unable to participate at these functions. Normally I'd grab the host and ask "who's capable of winging an accompaniment and probably willing if I ask nicely?" and the host usually goes "him or him or her - let's go over and I'll introduce you". But this time, nooooo, I have to have a ****ing UTI and unable to stop my back from aching and I can't support the note nor do I have the stamina to do a whole song, much less two or three. Then there's the side-effects of the ****ing antibiotics.
I'm tired and I can't tell what the cause is. The GP said if I wasn't starting to feel a bit better by mon - reminds me I need to dose myself up, BRB - day I should ring up and find out if the tests come back saying the bug is immune to the drugs. But I can't tell if I'm exhausted and sore because I'm not better, or side-effects, or because I did too much today. But I can't have done too much today, I slept for 12 hours, then got up and defrosted some hot-cross buns for mid-day breakfast, then started mowing lawns (they're about 8-10 weeks overdue for it, but because of the weather and the fact that I refuse to water grass, only the weeds have grown) but I couldn't finish because I was too exhausted after doing about half of what needed doing. Managed to do the herb patch and water stuff after a rest, but not much else. Also managed to bully my SO into cooking dinner because I was too tired to do more than open a packet of chips but by the time he actually did, I was too tired to eat much, and I just know I'll wake up hungry in a couple of hours time.
