Played awful bridge yesterday. Went to the bridge club AGM session (not the AGM itself), looked at the free 'light luncheon' and thought "Yay, the only things here that won't make me ill are unappetising. Or marshmallows. And the vegetarian I'm standing next to is also unable to eat anything but the marshmallows"
I'm told that when trying to elect the committee this year, no-one else nominated for most of the positions, so the pre-nominated last years committee got in for most of the positions by default (as per constitution). However, one person did not pre-nominate themselves, so they were short one position. So they called for volunteers from the floor and got 5. If they had nominated earlier, they'd have got into the committee in preference to last years' less-than-perfect people, and it would have been a brilliant committee who actually consulted people before taking unilateral action that benefits thmselves more than the club or the players. I can rant about certain of these actions if you want. Anyway, they voted among the 5 to see who got the last spot, and voted in the person who had it last year. O,o
So then I played like a moron. Or a really tired person.
