Bridge Blues

Finally got organised and got a partner for the state youth bridge team tryouts. Also got in first with my 'I'd love to, but I'm working that morning - can we move the sessions back?' so the entire thing is at a time when I can go. Next problem is, if (when) we get in the team, we have to play in a teams event between the trials and the nationals. And IIRC, the only one available in that timeslot is the ANOT, where I'll run into the same problems with timing and work. The ANOT runs on the Adelaide Cup Day long weekend, from Friday evening through to Sunday night, with finals and optional consolation competition being held on the Monday. We could play in a 5 or 6 person team, but most people hate that because they enter these events to play the entire weekend, not sit out while the other 4 are playing.

And then there's the problem with getting time off of work to go to the nationals. Sigh.
