Am developing a slight headache ringing people about their accounts. I think the 'best' one so far is the one where I rang the place up, got transferred to their accounts department, who told me that they didn't handle the accounts anymore (!) and I should ring this other place which is now head office and here is the number. The number they gave me was attached to a fax machine. After looking around in the white pages for a number, I rang the first number back, told their reception person what had happened, and got the right number, where I left a message, and have just been called back to fix everything up.
I thought this was slightly better than the people who need to take a message because they can't do anything while their entire system is down, or the people who keep their records in a separate office to where everything else is done so that they can't access them easily, or the people who just didn't answer the phone...
