So. My sister's cat will arrive to stay with us on Friday morning on her way to work, there being no other semi-reasonable time that I'll be home that she's not working or in Sydney. By Friday morning, I mean 7:30 am on my sleep-in day. Every other day but Sunday I need to be at work in the morning, and Sundays I do housework (when I get around to it - guilty look at the sink, and kitchen benches, and kitchen table, and other bench, and laundry sink, all festooned with dishes that need doing...) So Bella will be arriving, and staying with us for two weeks. I've promised my SO that I'll vacuum twice a week, do the dishes immediately, and sift the solids out of the litter tray daily, in order to have her.

She's an incredibly sweet-tempered and patient cat - she has to be, to have put up with everything that my sister has put her through. The last time I gave her a bath, she hated the water, but she put up with it, never scratching me, even when parts of me were within reach and would have made good ladders to get away from the water. Mind you, every time anything not me came within reach she was clawing desperately for it. She desperately needed the bath at the time, though, her fur was greyish-yellow, not white, and she stank. It was almost summer and she was shedding and, as usual, no one but me gave her a brush and I had moved out of my parents' house 6 months before so she was Not Happy. Until I sat on the lawn for half an hour brushing her drying fur until she was sleek and not patchy.

I love my sister's cat. I wouldn't have her full-time, but for a couple of weeks? Cleaning up is a minor sacrifice.
