I just got rung up by work. They wanted to know if I could come into work tomorrow morning at 6:30am. I asked what time they would be suggesting I work until. When they said 9pm, as normal, I said I would be unlikely to have the stamina to do two 6:30am starts in a row (Friday morning and Saturday morning) - given I won't get home from bridge tonight until 11pm at the earliest. At which they went 'oh', thought a little, and came up with a better offer which is still not nice but one which I would take.
I'm proud of myself for not saying yes immediately.
But then, I worked all Tuesday instead of just from 7am to 12pm, because one of my fellow workers had a sick boyfriend and so she could not get in from wherever she lives - out in woop-woop I imagine. Me working tomorrow is probably for the same reason.

I hope to hell these people pay overtime. And offer you decent breaks. Realistically, you can't be forced to work shifts with anything less than ten hours between them (at least not if that law's national, which I believe it is), so they have to come up with a compromise if they're called on it. But it's amazing what people will try to get away with...
Kudos to you for not taking that sort of crap, my dear.
And good luck finding a better position, when you choose to go hunting one.
