I'm trying to get my bank to set up internet banking for me (in preference to spending around 15 times as much to get the money I want transferred regularly transferred automatically by their computers).

When I went into the bank to request stuff be done, I looked around and could find no sign for 'Enquiries', only a 'Queue Here' sign. So I queued up. When I got to the head of the line, they directed me to the enquiries desk, which was directly in front of the door, and unlabelled.

This did not bode well for the rest of my efforts.

Anyway, I went over there, asked about the auto-transfer facility (cost $5.something all up), and was advised to do it by internet banking (cost 30c) by the very nice lady. So I asked her to set it up for me, as I had been meaning to do so anyway. So she ran my card through, asked the questions she needed to ask, and then looked around for an instruction book to give me.

Then she went and looked at the desk next to hers.

Then she went and asked her manager.

The manager said that they'd run out and were waiting for more to arrive from the printers.

So I asked them to just get one sent to me with all the other information that they need to send me.

The only piece of that information that has arrived is my password, sent separately for security reasons, and that arrived on Wednesday. Luckily, the call centre is in Sydney, which does not have a long weekend this weekend, unlike us. So I shall call, sweetly explain my position, and listen to them go 'oh'.

And in other news, my Windows Update thingy has now reached 37%!!!

I think it'll take a month or so to finish. Damn those stupidly large updates...

I like chocolate.

In small amounts.

Except as a substitute for dinner.

Strawberries are much better as a substitute for dinner.

They were selling chocolate-dipped strawberries in the Central Markets this week.

I was good and didn't buy any. The fridge already had six blocks of chocolate in it...

Banks are run by idiots!

So. I ring the number on the piece of paper I received from my bank. That number has an automated service saying "This number is no longer in use".

So I ring the number that the automated service tells me to.

After listening to another automated service thingy, pressing numbers and so forth, it tells me that they are receiving a high number of calls and would appreciate me calling back later. Then it cuts me off.

I shall ring back later.
