My balance point for the Supergirl aerial feels like I gave myself a bone bruise practicing - it's not, it's muscular, but ouchy. Also, I'm starving of teh hungers and I should have been in bed hours ago.

Well, you know how when Supergirl flies she's... Well, top picture shows what the pose is like, except the lady is balancing on the guy's shoulder, tummy down.

I balance best on my pubic bone - the other ladies are balancing on lower stomach. One dismounts like a graceful sack of potatoes.

Suspected as much, especially when people suggested the possibility of double supergirls.

Weird. We tended to do something similiar, but it all tended to be full aerial lifts above the head, usually supported by two hands, or occaisionally choreographed for one, but still with greater elevation. Then again we had a far greater balletic influence on our dance routines.

I can see it getting interesting on the dance floor, especially since ceroc is technically unchoreographed.

Disclaimer: I know no ceroc.

We're doing Supergirls, because it's in the choreographed routine (Advanced) we're learning atm :D Aerials are discouraged on the dancefloor, as are dips and drops if safety is compromised (eg. too many drunk people). Part of the birthday party last Saturday involved going out to a live covers band venue to dance (after dinner), and after the dancefloor got crowded beyond my comfort zone, I aborted every drop led on me. I did not trust the drunken crowd to allow for me to be there, and I do not want my head kicked. Dips I mostly converted into sits, since it's easier to control how far down you go, and they're harder to morph into drops (for the guy to lead, anyway).

I don't like drops unless I can trust my partner to know what she is doing (and vice-versa of course), and we are dancing around people that respect one's dance zone. It's far too easy to hurt your partner when it's done improperly.

And my philosophy is that the dipped partner always controls the dip, but then I often sacrifice the lead when dancing. Not that you already haven't noticed that this is the case. Then again my experience with dips usually comes from the tango. <sigh> I really miss having someone fun to tango with. Wah! I want to Zevulon's wedding tango from Day Watch.

Then again when you are as big as I am and take up as much room as I do, you always get scared you are going to crush other dancers.

The dipped partner should always be in control, but I find aborting a dip that has just been turned into a drop difficult, as yet.

I will say that one of our younger teachers is bigger. Not quite in all dimensions (since you have a much greater seventh dimension presence), but that's him in the icon, doing a particular dip kneeling down, as it requires the lady to hold on with her thighs (or be wearing non-slippy shoes) and sit on or above his knee, and I have to jump to get that high if he's standing up :D

Edit: And I just realised how hard it is to actually see him behind me, given the photoshopping I did. But take it as given that I'm wearing Boots O' Doom and it's still a LOT easier to do that dip if he's kneeling
