Went to see my GP this morning. Needed a refill of a prescription I think got thrown out with the paper bag the medication came in. While I was there, she had to try out her new toy, the automated blood pressure thingy. 86/51, 81BPM resting. Which says I'm not an athlete, but I really need that morning coffee to make my eyes focus.

If you add a 1 in front of those numbers you get my blood pressure whilst on Arava on a good day. And that's counting the effects of the large doses of the antihypertensives Micardis and Felodur I was on. Now wonder I got rather sick.

No more caffeine for me! <sigh>

Which explains the 'no chocolate' rule. Which is a nasty rule, and we don't like them bagginses...

Actually it's the sugar which is a bigger problem than the caffeine at the moment...

Why does everything people make with wattleseed have so much sugar in it? I just discoveredthat Haighs do a Wattleseed Crunch.

"Get behind me Haighs!"

Because the manufacturers are convinced that people need the overly sweet flavour in order to be persuaded to try the unfamiliar. Which is complete ****, since people who need to be persuaded by such methods probably won't try it anyway, and the rest of us prefer the subtleties of the flavour unmasked by sugar.

every, what? ten years? less?

Every year. You can get away with every two years, but you want to keep on top of potential problems.

My GP is in Hawthorn, stop 11 on the 191/192 bus line - the Crafter Medical Centre on Belair Rd. I like Dr Kilmartin (female, minimum two week wait for an appointment) or Dr McComb (male, generally one week wait for the times I prefer). These are the same GPs I've had since my paediatrician changed practices, and my subsequent choice died, pretty much. They listen to me, and don't dismiss my observations (like some other GPs at that practice have), don't overprescribe, and will always tell me as much as they know.
