You're fighting a Cookie-baking Thing from Beyond Time

This is one of the primeval, endlessly malevolent, fiendishly intelligent old gods from before time and space as we know it existed. Currently, it's employed making cookies for Linnea's Crimbo takeover. I guess it's a good way to pass the time between driving mortals mad with one peek at your frightful visage.

You get the jump on it.

There's even a little picture of a stick figure with a Cthulhoid head holding a cookie

I didn't realise you played! We have a clan with most of the standard shinies, if you're looking...

It's a good way to pass the time when I'm waiting for MYOB to save something before printing it. Please enumerate the advantages of belonging to a clan - I'm having fun playing clanless and things like meat stashes and items I have not yet earned (which is what people seem to join clans for) don't float my boat, but I'm curious.

I've been doing a long series of Hardcore runs, so I haven't had much access to the clan benefits myself, but they are:

- Clan stash. Donate meat or items to the clan, get karma points, use karma points to withdraw other items (not meat) from the stash.

- Clan buffs. Things like extra substat points, adventures, etc. bought by the clan leader out of clan funds. Not very cost-effective, but we do them once in a while.

- Extra adventures. We have a Shelf of Self-Help Books that give an extra 5 Adventures per day to clan members.

- Meat plants. We have an Exotic Hanging Meat Orchid and a Potted Meat Bush that provide a certain amount of extra Meat each day, if you stop by to harvest them.

- Crane Game (which isn't actually a minigame, just a button that you press). A claw game that gives you (completely useless) toys - stuffed astral badgers, that sort of thing. We'll probably replace this eventually, once everybody has more stuffed toys than they could possibly want.

- Tanning Bed. Spend adventures here, get Moxie. It's not as effective as adventuring, but if you have adventures going to waste and not enough time to use them adventuring, you can use this one.

- Snack Machine. Provides three revolting flavours of chips that give short stat boosts.

- Usual social stuff (message board on which you can ask for advice, offer trades, share useful links, etc etc).

Most of these don't work while you're in Hardcore or Ronin mode (exceptions: message board, crane game, and you can always put things *into* stash). I mostly use the clan to keep in touch with some of my friends who play the game.

What's your character name? Mine is Balaclava, because all the good ones I could think of were taken.

Applied; I have much adventuring going to waste atm, being horribly busy and focusing on the Crimboween quest which won't let you smoosh monsters in one hit without getting hit yourself.

Yeah, the Crimbo monsters are nasty, especially since they scale to your stats. Good for XP though. And you should be able to use clan stuff now (most of it's in the rumpus room).

Thrusting Smacks or Lunging Thrust-Smacks appear to make much quicker work of them, though. Now that I've figured that out, I'll probably use a lot of those MP restoring things I have lying around *grin*

I think Lunging Thrust-Smack and Eye of the Stoat will be my next two permanent skills.

Eye of the Stoat is extremely cool for its low cost. Lunging Thrust-Smack, however (although I have no evidence for this assertion) seems to do less damage per MP than Thrust-Smack. More damage total, but less per MP.

Thrust-Smack does double normal damage for 3 MP, LTS does triple damage for 8 MP, so it's certainly not as cost-effective. I guess it depends on whether you have more HP or MP to play with...

The accountant in me is offended at the very concept. I must use Thrust-Smack exclusively, due to its greater cost-effectiveness :D
