One day, this too shall end.

And on that day, I will not have to be anywhere, do anything, see anyone.

As you might be able to guess, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. There's less than a month to the Bridge Nationals, work is going through the end-of-financial-year madness (as the entirety of Australia appears to be doing stocktake, and realising they have stuff wot needs to be serviced, by us, while we're doing the end-of-year tax stuff and other collywobbles), Committee Meetings and other associated madness (three Committees, all of whom have paperwork that needs to be prepared, and a fourth that I'm pretty much ignoring for the time being, argh argh we're all going to die), minor renovations happening at our house, and in the middle of all this, I'm starting guitar lessons and preparing to go to DanceMania.

I must be mad (der).

My schedule until further notice shall be as follows:
Monday through Thursday, daytime: work
Monday night: bridge coaching
Tuesday night: 3/4 are bridge Committee Meetings of various types
Wednesday night: play bridge
Thursday night: play bridge:
Friday: singing, guitar, studying, paperwork, washing. Maybe doing dishes. Probably cooking dinner.
Saturday: Various evening activities.
Sunday day: maybe garden, Mums' paperwork.
Sunday evening: Talking to Bastard. Yes, I have to schedule that, or I wouldn't get to.

Please note, there's no LJ updating in there - I usually have a free moment or so while I'm on hold at work, but right at the moment, I'm doing random paperwork instead. This, too, shall pass, and then you will get to hear me rambling on incessantly again.

Anyone who needs me to do something more can get knotted. There are other capable people in this world, including yourselves, people! *sigh* Ask me after the ANC (bridge Nationals) - I'll be able to help you then. As long as it doesn't involve weekends, because that'll clash with worktrip, DanceMania, worktrip.

She-Boss is pleased; I've stopped wailing that the world is going to end. The shipment of packing peanuts arrived this afternoon. It's MINE! MINE! ALL MINE!

Oh, and my singing teacher has got in first with a response to the 'I want a guitar' wail. If there's anyone out there who hadn't got around to responding yet, I'm sorry.

Music Vs Life

If you truly feel, or want, it... music is going to win.

Yes... even against bridge. Music laughs in the face of mere card games.

Yes... even against Bastard. Music laughs in the face of mere relationships.

And, unfortunately, even against work. Music laughs especially heartily about earnest attempts to make an honest living whilst playing.

Prepare yourself for a life of compromise on every level you can think of... & some you haven't yet... Believe me - you're going to love it...

No... really... you are... And if you ever need a guitarist...

Re: Music Vs Life

Bridge isn't just a card game, it's a way of life ;D Trust me, the only thing I've never let bridge outrank has been my studies. Well, I got a sub for two matches of the Womens' Trials the weekend of [livejournal.com profile] sandypawozbun and [livejournal.com profile] usagi_ozbuns' wedding. Scheduling nightmare. Bridge, wedding, bridge, reception, sleep, bridge, bridge, bridge, bridge.

This is my last year in the Juniors. After this, I can let bridge take second place until I'm good enough to have a chance at the Open Team, or the Australian Womens.

Ah, well. I think the point of this was that I do know what it's like to have something take over your life, and to have almost no friends who understand why you can't talk right now.

As for a guitarist, let me write myself a few more pieces first, and I'll see where I go from there. Still adjusting to more modern styles - it's so easy to just lapse into medjeevalness.
