Something I've noticed? Sometimes people get really disoriented when you answer the phone with "Good afternoon!" at 10am. And if you say "Good morning!" at 11:27 am, the people in the states 1/2 hour ahead are often really careful to tell you that it's three minutes off being afternoon where they are. Todays' was very careful to let me know that although it was still morning where I am, it was still morning where she was, by three minutes. By the time she got to the point, it was no longer morning where she was.
Tomorrow I get a haircut. Yay.

The only other time I've really seen it was from a shift worker, who used "Good morning" from about 16:00 to 20:00, "Good afternoon" from 20:00 to about 00:00, and "Good evening/Good night" most of the rest of the time.
