The SA team garments for this years' Australian National Championships have been selected for us. They've gone with a reversible sleeveless vest this time. Sizings have been taken.

As usual, the smallest size is too big - it's an inch too big in every dimension. The very idea of a sleeveless vest thing means I won't be wearing it this year for more reasons than size and colour. The idea of them is that they're what you wear when it's cool enough that you want another layer and yet too warm for a jumper. At times like these, I wear a heavier shirt or two light layers, or an open jacket. I much prefer the open jacket, since it is my arms that get cold the fastest. Well, there's a reason that I wasn't consulted with regards to these, and it's the fact that I'm a fussbudget and get really twitchy about having clothes that feel right and have every single layer perfectly aligned. Besides the fact that I know what colours suit both me and Mum, and there aren't any of them. The closest is black, and some greens now that my hair is red too. Neither of these colours are state colours (pity the Queenslanders - they get maroon and last year the only person at the entire event who would have looked good in their jumpers was me...) so they go for navy (death for yellow-redheads like Mum) with yellow and orange highlights (which I can't stand). These colours generally suit most of the Women's Team (and the men playing don't care) so they don't understand why Mum and I never wear them or pay to get them altered to fit properly. They tend to think I don't wear them because they have team patches embroidered on them, and fail to notice that whatever they pick is of a style I have never worn. Ever. Except for the ten seconds it took to convince me that I Didn't Like It. Some day I shall convince them that fingerless gloves (impossible to play with fingered gloves) or scarves are a good idea.

End of rant. Finished now. For the moment.

A bit late now...

Maybe team scarves are the go...then they could be worn as bandanas, neckties, scarves, flags...and for those desperate moments hankies...

Re: A bit late now...

I've mentioned scarves for previous years, but I'm told not enough people would want them.

The Youth Team tends to go off and get their own novelty clothing items made - they keep talking about getting thongs flip-flops but they never get around to it. Beanies, caps, t-shirts, and pants or shorts, if they can get them cheap enough, are all the go.

I should probably reference my rant last year, if it's still here...
