The electrician has left after diagnosing the problem, fixing it, fixing everything else we asked him to, and cleaning up after himself. He even vacuumed up the hole-drilling residue in the reception area.
Apparently the problem (which the previous two electricians couldn't find) was that the thingy was tripping at 12 mA instead of 24mA like it's supposed to. On one round of testing, he said, it tripped at 9mA. This is like that scene in Apollo 13 where they're trying to figure out a sequence of starting up everything that won't go over a certain amount of whatever it's called, else the thingy will trip, except in their case it would burn the circuitry out and our problem is not that bad.
So the faulty piece of equipment has been replaced. Hopefully, that was the last of it.
It is raining off and on. I don't need to water the garden today, I think. My seedlings will do well enough without.
