As of this last weekend, I have one mandarine tree almost completely separated into its component parts and one hole in the middle of what I want to be the potato patch.
Re: Tree
I'd offer the bits to whoever in the area wants to burn things, save for the fact that the damn thing was riddled with borers. Probably live ones, and I'd rather not risk spreading them. Does make pretty patterns in the wood, though. Some of it was OK, but between a third and half of the tree was affected to some degree. We won't be putting another tree in exactly that spot, I think. Achieved hand blisters wielding the bow saw.
Re: Potato Patch Hole
For some utterly unknown reason, the previous owners of our house had a sunken concrete pillar in the middle of one of the garden beds. It has metal reinforcing protruding from the top. The concrete probably dates back to about 1950, and is 6" * 6" * unknown. So far, I've got to the orange layer of clay and it's still going. I'll have to enlarge the hole again to get the mattock in. Burst hand blisters wielding mattock. Wondering if I can just cut it off, or bash it, or something, since there is no way I am using all that clay dirt and I have no idea what it was supposed to be for. The bed is going to be raised and filled with good stuff, anyway, because that orange layer of clay plays havoc with the drainage.
Injuries
Just paper-cut myself on an envelope. There's a reason I keep band-aids in my desks' top drawer. The results of last weeks' fall from the bus have almost disappeared.
SO's Injuries
My SO has achieved extreme bruised-ness on one calf, due to being smacked in the leg with a stick by![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
usagi_ozbun at training last week. The hit was fairly high up on the calf, but the blood has spread over the back half of his leg from that point downwards, and onto his ankle and foot. It's a nice purple, with patterns from where his socks press.
