We have the computer guy in at work at the moment - hopefully before he is gone I will get my RAM.

OK, the poetry meme. I'm at work, and this is the only piece that I can remember that I hadn't posted already. I don't remember who wrote it, but I remember that the name for the full poem was "Hymn to Proserpine" if anyone wants to go looking.

'The glass of the years is brittle whereon we gaze for a span,
A little soul for a little gives up this corpse which is man.
So long I endure, no longer, and laugh not again, neither weep,
For there is no god found stronger than Death, and death is a sleep.'

I may have the punctuation wrong, but those are the words. When I originally found the piece, I was in high school, browsing through the library books. I came across it is a book of poetry, title unremembered. I liked it because I got a feeling of peace, and acceptance of adversity, from the words. At the time this was important enough that I typed it up on the computer and stuck the printout on the wall next to my bed where I could read it regularly.

Meme: I've got something you haven't.
Name a CD you own that no-one else on your friends list does

Wagner's Rinse Cycle. It's a collection of musical 'jokes'. Included is the piece written for full orchestra + typewriter, and the Cat's Duet sung by two very good operatic sopranos... Currently on loan to someone not on this list.

Edit OK, at least two people own this one. Let's try 'No Gift Like The Present' by Close Call, a local band whose vocalists were in the same singing class as my father some time in the last two years.

Name a book you own that no-one else on your friends list does

Very very hard... I'll find one when I get home...
Edit How about "What a Way to Go - Some of the Strangest Deaths on Record" by Peter Bowler and Jonathon Green. Useful for thinking up strange things for campaigns... If someone has this book, I'll just have to fall back on all the bridge books.

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no-one else on your friends list does

My grandmother's wedding video. I'm the only person in this country with one of those. An hour or more of a very religious ceremony in a cheap-looking church with my grandmother in virginal white with relations by marriage but not blood in the wedding party... I don't think anyone else will ever get that...

It's also one of the very few videos I own.

Name a place that you have visited that no-one else on your friends list has

Also hard... Has anyone else here been all the way up the Strzlecki Track (sp) from south-eastern South Australia to Queensland? I think that might be the nearest...

So the computer guy has been and gone and I now have more than double the amount of RAM I had before! He has also finished fixing the computer with all the datafiles that I work off of (a process which took most of the day) so now I must get back to work :(
