My sister tells me that her cat has taken to eating her chilli plants. Including the fruit, leaves, and stems, but not the roots. We're taking care of the cat while she's away visiting our grandfather in Sydney. I am not letting her outside.
Today at work, I spent waaay too long trying to figure out how to put something in a box.
I had instructions. Instructions said "Get manual, warranty card, box, liner, inner sleeve and two end thingys" - not literally, this is my translation of the words on the page. So I went looking for said items. Then I asked my boss where they were. She went and found them for me - and then realised that there was no way that I could reach them without a stepladder. So I had said items. Now I just have to fit one inside the other in the order given in the instructions.
The liner is too big to go in the box.
I ask other boss why this is so. He tells me that it should go in the box, and proceeds to demonstrate how it should go in easily... Which it doesn't. The liner is the same size as the box, not slightly smaller as it needs to be to fit inside it. So he asks me where I got it. I pointed out where first boss (hereafter known as She-Boss) got them, and mentioned that she had got them for me because there was no way I could reach them without the stepladder. After much discussion between She-Boss and He-Boss, the conclusion is reached that these are the new boxes which don't need liners, and the instructions book has not been updated since they changed suppliers.
So now I know.
Having updated the instruction book, I look at the next instruction. I fold the bottom end thingy and try to put it in the bottom of the box. After some fiddling, I add 'tape the thing together so it stays nice' to the instruction book.
Next instruction says 'put the product in the sleeve, and put it in the box'. After looking at the result for a while, I get one of the ones packed by the person who is there when I'm not, slit all the tape open, and take a look. Then I add 'fold the two sets of flaps outward, not inward, so that they touch the inside of the box on all four sides'. Now that I have an example, it seems fairly straightforward for the rest of it, although I do add to the instructions 'fold the manual in half' and 'label the box before sealing it, not afterwards, so that you can check that you have the right product inside', as well as several diagrams detailing exactly what the instructions mean.
I'm sure that all of this was obvious when they wrote the instructions...
