My SO's brother will be visiting us tomorrow. He says that he's itching to do something with his hands around the house, and since he's renting in Sydney, he can't do anything to his home. Ours, however, is fair game. So he and my SO are planning to spend some time chasing channels along the wall for electrical cables (to put in more wall sockets attached to when the electrician next visits) which is a job that entails wearing safety equipment, so I can't participate in any way.

I hate being unable to participate. Particularly when it's because of something as stupid as my being too small for safety equipment to be safe to wear.

Today I feel like telling the world about my favourite bit of angsty poetry. I wrote this piece in year 11. Admittedly, I was being a bit of a pain to deal with, as I'd finished all the work we had to do in the first ten minutes of the class, so when I asked the friend sitting next to me for a line to start a poem with, she gave "If someone doesn't kill me soon". The rest just seemed to flow on from that perfect start...

If someone doesn't kill me soon,
I think I soon shall die;
And if I go from this poor earth,
Well then, so shall I;
And if I come back to some place,
I think I shall come too;
And if I want to do something,
There's something I shall do.
