Just thought I'd like to do a little more update on the bridge nationals (hereafter shall be referred to as the ANC) in Melbourne in August.

Of the states competing, we'll find out who's playing:
ACT: were first to pick their team. Managed to not pick a pair who are in the Australian Youth Team...
SA: That's us. Picked ours a week and a half ago.
NT: Not competing
WA: 'Awaiting details' says the official website
Qld: decided Mid-May. Expect an update in late May, early June.
Tas: Do they have enough Youth players to field a team this year?
NSW: Will be decided 8 May. Expect an update next week, or whenever the information gets through...
Vic: 'Awaiting details' says the official website

So, given that only us and ACT are in yet, and Vic and/or NSW are expected to field decent teams, the official website places the odds of us winning at 10/9 and them at 9/10. Even though the odds page replaced the weakest pair with their best (my opinion) pair who managed not to get picked... Which I think is funny.

It's not as if you don't know it's illegal.
It's not as if you can't see the sign that got posted after the police got tired of busting 2 or three people per lights rotation at this particular intersection during rush hour. It's right next to you.
It's not as if you can't see the three bike riders waiting to cross right where you've stopped.
It's not as if you can't estimate that those bike riders will have to go _through_ you, or the car _behind_ you in order to get past.

So why do you do it?

Another favourite, when riding my bike, is one particular place where there's a roundabout at the intersection of 5 suburban streets. The bike track crosses one of those offshoots, and on the other side from the roundabout is another silly intersection. As far as I can tell, no driver going through that roundabout has any idea of when to indicate. So when I think it's clear to go across the road, half the time it isn't and I have to slam on the brakes as someone who wasn't indicating turns a corner, or someone who was, goes 'straight'. Or they're indicating right for the road that most people indicate LEFT for...
