Compare and contrast the two following reactions to much the same message, that I was upset because a friend was very ill:
1) *hugs*
2) "Life goes on"
Now guess which one was related to me *sigh*

was - as in past tense? Can we assume that something happened along the grapevine so he isn't truly as unwell? (that would be joyful news!)

'Was' as in 'this is what I was saying', rather than 'this is how it was'. Unfortunately.
